gemini is a female lost stat marley given to me by two lovely individuals in a halloween themed rehoming… but more on that later! gemi was actually found my best friend caity, and she’s all the more special to me because of that. i love that she’s got so many elements to fall in love with— she’s my favorite breed, she’s got connections to friends, and she represents hard work and dedication of not just myself and the applicants, but the incredibly generous members who held the rehoming.
when i first saw her, her name was moonlight, and i fell in love with the concept of associating her with the night sky. even though she’s called gemini, or gemi for short, i also called her little moon for so long that it’s stuck around. when thinking of her new name in my home, i almost kept moonlight, but decided to give her something a little different— still related, though! i played around with latin words for moon, like lunar, and the word for constellation (she was almost named delphinus!) but none of them fit. kind of frustrating! but then i had an idea— maybe, instead of naming her constellation, i could name her after a constellation! i went through a couple of different names, and came across the zodiac constellations, and that’s when it hit me. i thought about it for a hot second, ran to a couple friends and confirmed the name, and just went for it— moonlight finally got a name that i felt suited her as perfectly as her original one.
gemi was born on june 4th, 2019, making her a gemini star sign— and it just sounded so cute that i had to go with it. i’ve always loved constellation names, especially given that a lot of them make up the names of harry potter characters, and we all know how harry potter obsessed i am (just take a look at my username, lol).
hello from aspyn (thanks for holding this profile buddy) & arine to whoever is reading this!
this will be further updated if i’m lucky enough to take gemini/moonlight home. i always want to write these sections out after the win, just because i want them to be as authentic as can be! but i’ll give the gist of what i’m going to say below. just not the after part, as i don’t know what will happen yet! hope that’s okay.
i first saw gemini in sandy’s and western’s halloween-themed rehoming, and i knew i had to apply for her. i actually applied for both her and a black cat named raven, but at the end of the day, i found myself bonding with gemini even more.
marleys just have really cute animations, okay? she kept accidentally giving herself sticks, chew toys, etc. even though those weren’t actual options i could click. it was the cutest little thing and i kept taking pictures of her spawning literally any and every toy into existence. she’s also a sleepy little puppy and fell asleep almost every evening i came to check on her. it always made me smile (: i worked as hard as i could on my application for both raven and her. i still hoped for raven, but my heart was really set on this adorable marley i’d fallen head over heels with.
on october 27th, i found out i’d made the first round of tops, and i was over the moon (no pun intended lol). the task was very unlike any other kind of task i’d ever done, which made it so fun. i got to talk about supernatural experiences and the spirit dimension, among other things, which was really exciting. the task graphic i made for gemini was probably one of my favorite pieces i’ve ever made,i loved making graphics for the other applicants for the task, too!
then, on november 8th, the next round of tops came out— and i somehow made the list! the task was to make a scene and/or profile, and i honestly admit i struggled with this. i had so much schoolwork, and it stressed me out trying to work with the time limit, but i did my best and got the task in on time. getting her scene together was definitely the easier part. although i was missing a few key items i wanted, like string lights, i got almost everything i was looking for and got the scene together. graphics, on the other hand, were a crazy time! i wanted a starry font, but just couldn’t find one that i liked, and then stumbled upon the one in her graphics now. it had a gothic style while still looking modern enough, and i kept coming back to it. so we settled on it! the background was easier to find, as i knew i wanted something with the gemini constellation in the background, and within maybe 20 minutes i found what i was looking for. after i made her full set and i got together a divider, repeating background (gotta love those, seriously, they make my life so much easier), and colored stats, it just all came together really quickly. i’m really glad i made what i made, and knew if i didn’t win, i still had some beautiful pieces i could use in the future if i found another marley to suit the name. but i admit, i really did hope i could use this for her— it just felt so right for her.
more information to come as things progress…. (:
