My name is Abraham. I am named for a very important man in the Bible. This man’s name was Abram at first.
Abram lived in Ur with his father and other family. One day God spoke to Abram and told him to leave his home town and go where God told him to. Abram loved God and did as he was told. God led him to a place called the land of Canaan. God made a promise to Abram that he would be the father of many nations and that the land of Canaan would be theirs forever. At that time Abram didn’t have any children, He was married to a lady named Sarai. Over time the couple just kept getting older and still no children. Sarai was to old to have a baby but God still told Abram that he would be a father of many nations. Sarai had a servant named Hagar who she gave to Abram to be his second wife (back then it was common for men to marry more than one wife). Abram and Hagar had a son they named Ishmael. But God said that Ishmael would not be the son of promise. God said that Ishmael would have many sons because he was Abram’s son. When Abram was 99 years old and Sarai was 90, God told them that in the coming year they would have a son. At this time God changed their names to Abraham (meaning ‘father of many’) and Sarah (meaning ‘princess’). Just like God said they had a son when Abraham was 100 years old because with God nothing is impossible and God keeps His promises. They named him Issac. When Issac was about five years old God tested Abraham’s love and obedience to Him. But I will let my cousin Issac tell you about the test. Come by and visit. Have a blessed day
