Growing up I didn’t watch anything close to Rupaul’s Drag Race or even anything inspiring. I was raised in a conservative christian household. That was very strict. Once I got out on my own I lost a lot of my family because I was too open minded for them. Having gay friends was not something they supported nor did some of them support bi racial dating(Bible Belt of Oklahoma folks not all of my family is trash I swear). Once I watched rupauls drag race(all the seasons) I realized they had a MASSIVE lesson to teach there. Ru always says “If you can’t love yourself, how the hell are you gonna love somebody else?”. This quote alone has gotten me through so many decisions I have had to make with my life. Self love is hard for everyone but you can’t give if you can’t receive. It’s something I am still working on but I am proud of myself and my achievements this far in life and thanks to Ru I see all perspectives of that.
