Has Site Domain Name Been Renewed?

Medium

I did a Whois LookUp following Google instructions. Yes, the site is set to expire this coming October 23.

Medium

I’ve been wondering this too & I am fully expecting the site to vanish into cyber space on that date but who knows!

Medium

When the day comes, I’m just going to wish all the pets on this site (including AC and stuck litters in Breeding) into the Multiverse where they can become real life pets with homes on parallel Earths.

Anyone who wants to can check the domain status. Just search for How do I check domain name expiration The instructions for what’s called a WhoIs Lookup will come right up.

It expires on that day every year, and every year everyone panics that the site will die on that day, and every year it gets renewed. I don’t see why he wouldn’t renew the site when he’s still making money from us.

That may have been true other years, but we’re also loosing Flash soon. I hope you’re right, but we’ve got unfavorable variables coming together.

*Edit — I did another Google search to make sure I got the facts straight. Flash updates will be discontinued after New Years Eve of next year. After that, web browsers will block existing versions of Flash due to ongoing security issues. This means that even if Foo is renewed through next October, it will cease to work altogether next New Years Eve unless Admin goes with new software, and there are no programmers around for that.

The only things that will stop working, if the site isn’t updated, is the play page, games and the breeding view. Everything else will continue as it is now, given nothing else breaks for other reasons.

Good to know.

Chrome has already blocked Flash. Apple, IE, and Mozilla will do so 12-2020. With these platforms killing Flash for their programs most folks will not be able to play Foopets on their computers. Opera still works and I can find no news on them killing Flash on their platform but I would assume they will follow the bigger browsers and kill it as well.
Unless the programmers (nonexistent as we all know) switch the whole game to another program, the site will die. Sorry folks but that is the way it is. One day you’ll wake up and the browser you use will not allow you to run flash.. Even though the site may still be “operational” in a figurative sense, if you cannot reach it, it is dead.

I’m sorry but that’s not how websites work. Most of this site is built with HTML, CSS, jQuery/Javascript and other scripting languages. If you turn flash off (In chrome flash is off until you enable it), you can still see the website, you can still use the website, but things that run on flash will not work. The things that run on flash are the games, the play page and the page you use to view breeding pets (only the animation will not work on the breeding page, the rest will be fine). The only things that break because of not having flash are animated things.
You will still be able to access the forums, you will still be able to view your profile and pets profiles, you will even still be able to breed pets. While the play page breaking would be a big blow as many of us surf for rare pets there, the rest will be pretty much as it is now.

Try it for yourself, disable flash and have a look at what the site looks like without it. That’s all that will change once flash is gone.

Hi. I don’t have a laptop that works so I just use my mobile phone. I haven’t got flash on my phone so Foo runs just as Gottheart has described. I’m just very grateful I can look after all my pets and see you all here. Maybe that’s the future of Foo for most or all of us.

I’m here to play with the pets. I don’t breed and I can’t properly feed my two Chinese Crested dogs with the app, because the programmers never addressed a glitch in their code before they left. Players like me are going to have to make some choices when the Flash deadline arrives.

Exactly TardisPuss, and Chrome has already disabled Flash so it does not work on there. I only play with my pets so when the site is not able to use Flash I am gone. No point in wasting my time with a game I cannot play the better parts of.

I can make Chrome work. You just have to remember to allow Flash instead of the default block.

Medium

Does anyone know if you can use flash on a Samsung phone?

Medium

No android does not allow for flash. Never has they built them that way sine flash is so insecure. Apple machines do not run it either.

Medium

Thank you Geo Wilcox. I hadn’t been able to find one. Never mind I can still feed my pets and see you all here.

Medium

Use can use Foopets with flash on the Puffin app for Android (Samsung)

Medium

Ah thanks Acemum. I’ll look into that.
